We hadn't bothered to mention that fact to him. We let it slide figuring it wouldn't last.
And we were right. A few days ago I was looking through Owens treasures he brought home from preschool and found this one.
The next one had me a little confused until after our meeting with his teacher last Friday:
LUK
KYSW
ALK
ER"
That's "Owen Luke Skywalker"
So we can rest easy in the knowledge that our child is now identifying with "gender appropriate" characters, so there's no need for any intervention.

His valentine "TO MOM AND DADDY LOV OWEN"
Oh, be still my heart!

Cute little guy!
Hehehe. Owen is awesome. I definitely want to be Princess Leia, R2D2, and well.. maybe not Luke (I thought he was a winer-baby when I was a kid), so let's just say Han.
Anyway... evidence number 3,321 of you you Merrills are cool.
I love the multiple cross hatch lines on the E. Paige does the same thing. So funny!
