We had a great day of fun, friends, food, and family.

Back to School Dinner

It was time for our annual back to school dinner Sunday night.  Though Owen won't be going anywhere this year, I still enjoy the sentiment of celebrating a new beginning.  And this is most-likely (we can only hope) Jeremy's very last back to school dinner ever.  That in itself is worthy of celebration.

It's good for our little family to join together in something "special".  Something that helps us feel love for each other and a sense of celebrating life together.  This year we had honey balsamic salmon fillets, steamed zucchini and yellow crook neck squash, and a slice of rustic pugliese (from the bakery), along with our favorite Italian soda.

Pulling out a lace tablecloth and some fancy glasses helps to dress up our Corelle dishes.   I'd pull out our china too, but --in full disclosure-- one of the "champagne" flutes did not make it through cleanup of last night's dinner.

For dessert we had a Honey Polenta Cake with mascarpone.  The food was delicious, the company was superior, this is a tradition that we love to celebrate.
